Control you Diabetes
Diabetes is one of the fastest growing health concerns in our country and the sad part is it doesn’t have to be. If we spend more time in the kitchen and less time at fast food that would be a great start.
When I tell people they should spend more time preparing there meals they usually say I am very busy and I don’t have time to cook every day, or when I get home from work I am to hungry to wait for my food to finish cooking so I order a pizza or go to the closest fast food.
If you have diabetes you know how important it is to watch what you eat.
Let's go one step further. If you don't want to get diabetes you need to watch what you eat.
Diabetes is a very serious condition that can be very deadly if not handled properly so consult your doctor before making any changes to your diet or exercise routine. If you are diabetic welcome to the club I was diagnosed at age two. I am type one, insulin dependent.
When I was a kid I used to give my self an injection of insulin before every meal. Since then I studied nutrition and learned about the glycemic index. I combined that knowledge with what I know about physical fitness and I have reduced the number of injections.
Since I eat 42 meals a week (6 per day) that would normally mean 42 injections per week, but I am averaging about 5 per MONTH. No this is not a misprint 5 per month. I accomplished this by learning how to regulate my blood sugar through food and exercise.
Food combining has a lot to do with this. I wish I had enough time to explain this concept. There are many books dedicated to this subject I suggest you pick one up because you are going to want one with you when ever you plan your meals.
The other part of this equation is working out. When you exercise you naturally lower your blood sugar so that reduces the amount of insulin required. Even though I don’t need as much as I use to I still take my insulin everywhere I go.
I’m not going to tell you it was easy because it wasn’t but it is definitely worth it. I feel like I have a normal life. I recommend you contact your doctor and a nutritionist before you try this.
It is also important to check you sugar more often to find out what your patterns are. Check before and after every meal. Also check before and after cardio and before and after lifting weights.
