Surgery and Weight-Loss
Surgery is certainly an option but is it right for you? You have two viable options.
The first is lap band. There are pros and cons to this. If your problem is over eating this is definatly a good possibility. What the band does is it restricts the amount of food you can consume so you eat less reather you want to or not.
The down side is the procedure is very invasive. Some say the pain is minimal others say it was extream I guess it depends on you own threshold.
There have been cases where the band slips and is no longer effective. If this happens you either have to have to do it
again or try something else.
The other option is liposuction. There are a couple of ways of having this done. The old way is they create a small incision stick a small tube inside you and literally suck the fat out of you. There is some down time but not very much.
The newer way of doing this is with lasers. They scan lasers over the area you want and it melts the fat away. No pain and no down time.
Both procedures limit the amount of fat they can remove at one time. If you have a lot of fat to remove you need to go back for multiple treatments and this can be costly. If you are lucky your insurance may cover it.
Another down side to liposuction is if you don't change your lifestyle you will put the weight back on.
In the last 3 years I have monitored 9 different people who had liposuction and all 9 gained the weight back. 5 of the 9 weigh more now then they did before the had the surgery.
I am not recommending any of these procedures I am merely pointing out your options, the decision is yours.
Surgery should be reserved for emergences
not for vanity reasons. If you are healthy enough to workout I think that should be your first option.
