Are Video-Games
Good or Bad

I know video-games are very popular but are they bad for your health? I know that may sound crazy to you especially if you enjoy playing them. Let me explain.

When I was growing up in the 60's we spent most of our time outside playing games like tag, dodge ball, red rover basketball, football, baseball and other games that required us to exert a lot of energy.

That is how we kept our weight down. If you are spending a lot of time sitting on the couch playing with your game boy you are not burning any calories.

There are some games that promote physical activity. I like Wii. They require you to get up and move. My favorite is the dancing. After about five minutes my heart is racing. I also like the boxing and the tennis.

I have noticed a lot of these games revolve around violence. I think our children have enough exposure to killing. Another problem with video-games is they take a way from family time. In my opinion the use of these games should be limited to a couple of hours a week.

I don't want you leaving here thinking I hate video games, all I am saying is let's make better choices as to what type of games we allow our children to play.

If you are noticing your pants are getting tight around the waist you might want to think about spending more time at the park and less time with your game.
